Bolton school girl designs Whistl Christmas card
Major Bolton employer Whistl, the delivery management company based on the Logistics North site, has announced that the winner of its design a Christmas card competition is Magdalena Lic, aged 8.
Whistl opened its new distribution super depot in the summer and as part of the celebrations of moving to the area it asked children from Heathfield Primary School to design its annual Christmas card which is sent to hundreds of customers throughout the UK.
Entries into the competition came from children varying in age from 5 to 11 years old. The competition was judged at Whistl’s head office and an overall winner was decided as well as runner ups. The company presented a prize to Magdalena and to runners up at a school assembly and also made a donation to the school to help fund the annual pantomime.
Louise O’Neil, HR Business Partner at Whist who attended the assembly, commented:
“We were delighted to work with the local school near our Bolton Super Depot to design our customer Christmas card. The judging process was very tough, and we are really pleased with Magdalena’s winning entry.”
Magdalena Lic, designer of the winning design, said: “I am really happy to win the competition and it was fun to only use orange to draw my picture.”
Ms Linden, Head Teacher of Heathfield Primary School, said: “It’s wonderful that our children had the opportunity to enter this competition and we are really proud that Magdalena’s winning design will be seen by many hundreds of people across the UK.”
Whistl is one of the largest employers in the area and specialises in managing the delivery of business post, parcels and doordrop media across the UK.
