International Delivery Update

Information updated as of Friday, 26^th April 2024

Whistl would like to reassure our customers that it's business as usual for Whistl International. Despite some delivery challenges in key countries, we are still collecting, processing, and injecting all untracked and tracked items into final mile carriers to all countries that remain open for the passage of commercial movements.

Some International Carriers are experiencing delays, with several countries cancelling flights between Europe and the rest of the World.

General Service Update

We have been advised by in-country partners the list of countries below is experiencing delivery delays and disruption.

Affected countries and additional surcharges in place on the following services and formats.

Key Region / Country	Latest View / Update
Belgium (EU)	Ongoing strike action is causing delays to Mail and Parcels. Areas in the south of the country and Brussels are particularly affected.
France (EU)	Media sources report that the unionized postal workers of La Poste will go on strike on April 2. Mail and Parcel deliveries are expected to be disrupted across the country.
Italy (EU)	Mail and parcels are expected to be delayed due to two national strikes announced from Monday 29th April until Friday 3rd May.
Spain (EU)	Correos has advised that due to a technical issue with the IT system used by Customs to clear items, there are currently delays that are impacting postal flows.
New Zealand (ROW)	Experiencing delays due to flight capacity.

Plastic Bans - By Country

France

Since January 2022, plastic wrapping will be unauthorised in France, which may impact your sending volumes. Please be advised that France is becoming increasingly vigilant about enforcing this law regarding its ban on using poly-wrapped items.

India

Please be advised effective immediately, the Indian government has banned single-use plastic products. These are plastic items intended to be used once for the same purpose before being disposed of or recycled.

Banned Items Include Earbuds with plastic sticks, balloons with plastic sticks, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, thermocol for decoration, plastic plates, plastic cups/glasses, plastic cutlery, plastic straws, plastic trays, wrapping/packing films around sweet boxes, plastic/PVC banners not less than 100 microns, wrapping or packing filmes around invitation cards or cigarettes, plastic stirrer, plastic carry bag less than 75 microns.

PLEASE NOTE: on all countries that have stopped services, Whistl will return the items as quickly as possible to the clients if any slip through.

Destinations that are Embargoed where Whistl has been unable to obtain an alternative carrier or the country is not accepting inbound traffic during the pandemic crisis.
