Sustainable Fashion Show hosted by Relish

September 2022

To coincide with Sustainable Fashion Week, Relish hosted a sustainable fashion show at the Cabot Circus in Bristol using clothes donated by the Children Hospice Southwest, Glastonbury.

Teams from Relish were tasked with creating catwalk creations with the donated clothes to highlight that fashionable looks can be achieved if you look at using recycled items, typically from charity shops.

Sam Horne, co-founder and designer of Soul Sergeants, which has two studios in Bath and Yeovil, made a guest appearance. They are leaders in sustainable fashion with 95% of materials sourced in the UK and committed to zero waste with off-cuts used in other products.

There was also a talk from a local sustainable fashion stylist Becky Barnes who inspires women to create and celebrate their unique style in a way that positively impacts them and the planet.

The event attracted a lot of interest from local fashion students as well as members of the public.

All the items produced by the Relish teams were presented on the runway for the runway challenge. At the end of the event, all items which were used and not used were donated back to the charity.

  • Soul Sergeants clothing is a true investment. 95% of their supplies are sustainably sourced in the UK, decreasing their carbon footprint and giving back to the economy. They're also not a fan of throwing anything away, with glittery off-cuts saved instead of binned, ready for re-use at a later date. Anything that they can't reuse, gets recycled. Always leading the way in sustainable fashion, whether it's making zero waste bouji bow headbands out of off-cuts or upcycling edgy pre-loved jackets and outerwear for cult collections, they ensure that your glow-up doesn't come at the expense of the planet.
  • Becky Barnes is a sustainable stylist who inspires women to create and celebrate their unique style in a way which impacts positively on both them and the planet. She truly believes that fashion and sustainability can happily live side-by-side and that clothing can have a positive impact on people as well as the environment without having to compromise aesthetics or personal values.

The day was a great success and you can see some of the amazing fashion from the day in the video.

Our mission is to ensure that Relish's business activity has a positive impact on both the community and the environment. This means taking a holistic approach to our campaigns, championing sustainable innovation, and giving back to our community through local events
