Bespoke Fulfilment Service for Growing Fashion Label

May 2017

When stylist Greg Lang launched the fashion label Navy London, effective fulfilment of wholesale orders would be fundamental to success.

Eight years on and with contracts agreed with online retailers ASOS and Zalando, a concession in Top Shop Oxford Street business was booming. Outsourcing fulfilment met the increasing demand for orders and the requirements of the retailers.

After researching his options, he approached eCommerce fulfilment specialist Parcelhub, which provides warehousing and pick-and-pack services to eCommerce companies across the UK and overseas.

The team at Parcelhub used their experience in the B2C eCommerce sector to develop a streamlined system which allows reworked orders in as little as two days. Goods are received directly from China every few weeks, unpacked and checked by a specialist team before repacking according to the retailers’ specifications.

Greg said, “Initially, we managed the fulfilment in-house, but it was always a complex and time-consuming job, and as we got bigger, it became more complicated, took longer and needed more space. Unless I was going to move premises, I needed to outsource to a partner I could trust to manage this part of the business.

Once you get to a certain size, it’s something that needs experts involved. The retailers each have their delivery processes, and as a supplier, you must meet their requirements exactly or risk returning your shipments. We can’t afford this to happen, so everything has to be right.

Some have restrictions on the size or weight of boxes, and different retailers want garments packaged differently.

  • With hangers
  • Without hangers

The permutations can be endless. Label accuracy was required to eliminate missed or wrong deliveries.” Sales of Navy London clothing have risen significantly over the past 12 months, and consignment numbers have more than doubled.

Greg added, “For me, wholesale is the way forward. It allows me to concentrate on ensuring the brand retains a signature style and stays on trend while still getting in front of consumers.”

Mark Rosenberg, managing director of Parcelhub, added, “Picking and packing requirements vary with every eCommerce client. We recognise that no two businesses are the same, and we pride ourselves on tailoring our services to meet individual demands. Our experienced team hand packs to ensure accuracy, which means we can also manage extremely complex jobs where multiple products need to be sorted, reworked and despatched.”
