Yoto partners with Whistl for its Fulfilment Services

September 2023

  • Intoduction

Yoto was formed in 2017 by Ben and Filip, both with young families and committed to empowering children with the magic of storytelling. Yoto’s screen-free audio players let kids listen, learn, and play at their own pace. The Yoto Player was launched in 2020, and quickly found a home on the world’s play mats, bedside tables and kitchen counters. The third generation Yoto Player was introduced earlier this year. The Yoto Mini is a portable player launched in 2021 and accompanies kids on their journeys and travels. Central to their ethos is the idea that kids should have a safe and distraction-free environment to explore content at their own pace, leading to the development of screen-free audio players.

Ben, the CEO of Yoto, envisioned a world where kids should be able to safely listen to audio on their own terms, without the distraction or dangers of using connected devices made for adults. This led to the development of screen-free audio players that let children explore content at their own pace. Yoto is committed to supporting families and fostering a love for storytelling and is guided by three key questions: making bedtime easier, bringing joy to parents, and being user-friendly for grandparents.

  • The company today

Yoto's been successful for many years with offices in London, New York, and a team in France. Their sales doubled every year, and their Yoto Player was ranked as one of Time Magazine's Top 100 inventions in 2020. The company is proud to design and sell products that have a positive impact on families, which are rewarded with a loyal customer base of appreciative parents.

  • Role of Operations Director

Alex Lainé has a key role to play as Operations Director in supervision of the entire process, from factory gate to customer. He has the responsibility of running logistics, sales operations, systems and supporting customer satisfaction teams. Alex Lainé's expertise ensures that the Yoto’s business continues to function smoothly.

  • Yoto's partnership with Whistl

As Yoto's volume increased, they needed a reliable logistics partner to respond to their growing demands. With a view to scale and innovate Yoto needed to access various carriers and postal services, so partnered with Whistl in October 2022. Whistl Fulfilment provides storage, pick, pack, and distribution to Yoto.  We receive their stock directly from the manufacturers, store their product, manage the inventory, ship to consumers, retailers and wholesaler; we hold around 1M units of stock.  In a nutshell, we provide B2B and B2C fulfilment solutions.

Whistl got us through peak with an interim solution, then put in place a more permanent arrangement of racking/binning once they knew their way round our inventory and requirements. Their approach to any issues we may have is great, and we are now engaged in what I call ‘unheralded’ work to try and be even more efficient: more compact packaging to minimise cardboard, trying to improve picking times, switching to seafreight rather than air. They totally buy into the process of ‘establish, improve, evaluate’
