We're delighted to announce that HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), the UK tax authority, has signed up to use the Whistl Fuel Carbon Calculator.
This will enable the organisation to reduce its carbon impact by opting to use Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) rather than diesel for the collection and trunking of its bulk mail.
In doing so, HMRC will establish the number of litres of fuel used to transport its mail and then calculate how it could reduce CO2 emissions using HVO rather than diesel.
This move has mutual benefits in reducing carbon emissions. Through using HVO, Whistl reduces the CO2 it generates, while HMRC will reduce its CO2 impact under Scope 3 reporting.
The Fuel Carbon Calculator was launched in August 2024 and is the first of its kind in the Downstream Access Bulk Mail sector.
