Whistl Wins for Climate & Sustainability at Thames Valley 250 Awards

We're delighted to announce that Whistl has been named the winner of the Climate & Sustainability Award at the prestigious Thames Valley 250 Awards ceremony, held at Easthampstead Park, Wokingham.

The Thames Valley 250 Awards honour outstanding achievement and innovation across the region and this prize follows on from the Whistl Group being named the ninth largest private business in the TVP 250 listing.

We were also shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category, further recognising our commitment not only to the environment but also to creating a great place to work.

Whistl Recognised for ESG Achievements

Since launching our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and announcing our goal to go Net-Zero by 2045, we have continually strived "to deliver competitive services for customers whilst enriching our colleagues and communities and minimising our impact on the environment."

Having highlighted the progress we've made in our second annual ESG Report, we are thrilled to be recognised in the 15th edition of the TVP 250 Awards. 

Achievements in the past year include:

• 13.1% carbon reduction against the Group baseline.
• Validation of Net Zero targets by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
• Launch of the Fuel Carbon Calculator and introduction of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) as an alternative fuel option. 
• Climate Disclosure Project: B Score.

Judges Highlight "Maturity of Whistl's Journey"

Gareth Hughes (Business Services & ESG Director) and Irene Boctor (Head of ESG & Sustainability) were on hand to receive the award from the category sponsors. 

Phillip Parrott, ESG & Sustainability Leader at Inspired PLC said: “What set our winner apart was the maturity of their journey. While many are only beginning to measure supply chain impacts, this company has already quantified theirs and put strategies in place to manage their operations holistically.”

“Despite significant sustainability challenges within their sector, they have made meaningful progress in understanding their environmental footprint and taking concrete steps to reduce it. They have already achieved reductions in their scope 1 and 2 emissions, and are advancing with clear targets and action plans for scope 3.”
