We've taken another step to strengthen our environmental reporting, with our 2025 carbon report independently verified by Carbonology against the ISO 14064 standard.
Building Confidence in Our Carbon Data
Measuring environmental progress starts with having reliable data.
That’s why we’ve strengthened the way we report our greenhouse gas emissions, with independent verification of our 2025 carbon report.
The report follows ISO 14064, the international standard for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. Assent Risk Management supported Whistl in preparing the report against the standard, before it was independently verified by Carbonology.
Independent verification gives us greater confidence in the emissions information we report and provides a stronger foundation for monitoring our progress over time.
The work also builds on our existing approach to energy monitoring through our ISO 50001 Energy Management System, helping us develop a clearer picture of our environmental impact.
What is ISO 14064?
ISO 14064 provides a framework for organisations to quantify, report and verify greenhouse gas emissions.
For us, working to the standard means taking a structured approach to the emissions data behind our environmental reporting and having that information independently reviewed.
It's an important part of strengthening the quality and transparency of our carbon reporting, giving our customers and other stakeholders greater confidence in the information we share.
The latest verification also builds on wider work already underway across the Whistl Group to improve carbon reporting, governance and data quality. Our Head of ESG & Sustainability, Irene Boctor, was recently recognised in the Motor Transport Decarbonisation Power Players list for helping turn our decarbonisation ambitions into practical action.
Helping Customers Understand Their Scope 3 Emissions
Improved carbon reporting is important to us and our customers.
For organisations looking closely at the environmental impact of their supply chains, access to reliable emissions information is becoming increasingly valuable.
As a delivery and logistics partner, we understand our role in our customers’ supply chains. The emissions information we provide can therefore help customers understand and report their own Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
Strengthening the quality of our carbon data means strengthening the information we are able to share with them.
Irene Boctor, Head of ESG & Sustainability at Whistl, said:
“Accurate and transparent carbon data is fundamental to our ESG strategy. Independent verification of our 2025 emissions gives us greater confidence in the information we share with customers and other stakeholders.
“Working with Assent and Carbonology is an important step in strengthening our carbon reporting and improving the way we track our environmental progress.”
Turning Measurement into Meaningful Progress
Carbon reporting is most useful when it helps organisations understand where they are and track what happens next.
For Whistl, independent verification strengthens that starting point. Alongside our ISO 50001 Energy Management System, it gives us a more robust basis for monitoring emissions and measuring progress as we continue working to reduce our environmental impact.
That data-led approach is already reflected in our wider decarbonisation activity. We've introduced a fuel carbon calculator and expanded the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) across our transport network as a lower-carbon alternative to conventional diesel, whilst working towards our wider goal of achieving net-zero by 2045.
Robert Clements of Assent Risk Management said:
“Whistl’s commitment to collecting and monitoring energy data has been evident through its ISO 50001 Energy Management System.
“We were pleased to help prepare Whistl’s carbon report against the ISO 14064 standard, drawing on our knowledge of its wider compliance programme, before it was independently verified by Carbonology.”
This latest verification is another practical step towards better measurement, greater transparency and a clearer understanding of our environmental impact."
