Whistl Secures Van Excellence Operator Reaccreditation

November 2024

The Whistl Group, the UK's leading logistics specialists in e-fulfilment, mail and parcels, has been named as a 'Van Excellence Operator' for the second year running.

The reaccreditation by Logistics UK was independently audited against a set of unique industry-developed standards within The Van Excellence Code.

This re-certification follows last year's initial Van Excellence recognition and further demonstrates the Group's commitment to safety and best practice on the road.

What is Van Excellence?

The code is written by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), along with many of the UK’s best van operators. Its assessment is broken down into four main areas: vehicles, drivers, safe working practices and record keeping.

Facilitated and managed by Logistics UK, the Van Excellence Standards act as a barometer of integrity and trust amongst customers, colleagues and the wider supply chain.

Being recertified showcases the Whistl Group's adherence with current legislation and best practice, while also highlighting its operational efficiency and driver competence.

Ensuring colleague safety is an integral element of the Group's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, forming part of the 'Valuing Colleagues' pillar.

In 2023, Whistl took additional steps to improve driver safety by hiring a National Transport Training Manager. As part of this remit, the Group has bolstered its systems and procedures and strived to enhance driver training through the use of telematics monitoring systems and driver profiling.

Active initiatives include the provision of driver training towards gaining Certificates of Professional Competence (CPC).

These mandatory qualifications require 35 hours of classroom education every five years, ensuring drivers are competent in areas of road safety, vehicle operations and regulatory compliance.

Well done to our Transport team for securing reaccreditation for the Logistics UK Van Excellence Operator scheme. It is an important scheme to ensure that our fleet operates to the highest of standards.
