Supporting the Financial Industry with Mail and Postal services
Professional delivery management for financial and insurance organisations. Whistl can help your business to communicate with your customers with reliable mail and postal delivery.
If your business is in the finance industry, you know that your customers’ trust is paramount. In an ever-changing digital world and with the introduction of GDPR and upcoming ePrivacy law changes, you need to be able to communicate to your customers in the way they choose.
With the introduction of better technology and gadgets that allow us, as consumers to access our finances or pay for things around the clock, it is important to note that our main financial needs remain unchanged. As consumers we still need to pay for goods, services and household bills, create the right insurance policies and prepare for retirement.
A study by Smart Communications found that when UK consumers were considering financial services and insurance organisations that only around half felt that the communications received were relevant. With 63% of people in the UK stating they would consider switching suppliers if their communications expectations are not met and over a third of UK responders stating they would switch accounts if their communications where not sent at the right time.
Financial organisations need to send the right messages at the right time and in the way a customer wants to receive them. Did you know 65% of people say they find mailed bills and statements valuable? And over half say they’d feel less in control of their lives if they didn’t get important messages by post?* *IPA Touchpoints 5
And Financial Addressed Mail has longevity in the home with 17% of items staying in the home longer than four weeks *source Kantar TNS 2017. Access the full report here.

Sunlife Direct Mail Case Study
Sunlife used a mailing campaign to convert their base of online enquirers into purchasers for their pet insurance products. Using the tangible properties of mail, they created and delivered ‘smelly packs’ with scent infused paper peppermint for cats, bacon for dogs to get their pets to aid in the decision making the process for their insurance needs.
As an integrated message, customers were emailed in advance telling them to look out for the pack and to create a feedback loop they were asked to upload a film clip of their pet’s reaction to it on social media.
Sales during the campaign rose by 21% and the average premium income was 11% higher than expected, with more people selecting either a Gold or Silver insurance package. Read the full case study here
Partially Addressed Mail
Whistl also offers a fully GDPR compliant option for our customers with partially addressed mail. Partially addressed mail or PAM offers the chance for financial companies to connect with customers or prospects, influencing product selection and spending behaviour.
Campaign effectiveness is increased when audience profiling and insights are used to identify the right homes, your financial service communication is to be sent too. PAM is an advertising mail option that is as compliant to GDPR rules, as an unaddressed door drop campaign.
GDPR compliant mail delivery
Partially addressed mail offers your business the ability to deliver a promotional marketing message in a GDPR world, as PAM is a form of direct mail, without the use of any personal data. Creatively items are 'partially' addressed using a generic name for your recipients such as ‘occupant’ and no personal identification data is used, within the targeting process or delivery of your campaign items.
Whistl’s dedicated in-house insight and planning team will help you strengthen your audience profiles and plan a strong advertising campaign, to maximise your marketing results against your budget.
