With adMail, you can save money on advertising direct mail costs. Available with our Premier mailings service, adMail is ideal for businesses that send direct mail pieces promoting the sale or use of products or services or to encourage, contribute to, or support a cause.

Whether aiming to attract new clients or to engage your current audience, adMail guarantees that your message is effectively delivered to the appropriate recipients with enhanced cost efficiency. 

To qualify for the adMail service, campaigns must comprise at least 4,000 mailing items per service per day. In addition, please note:

  • adMail does not affect your mail drop dates or delivery times and can only be applied to all Premier services in letter and large letter format.
  • Using the adMail checklist, customers must comply with all elements and send a seed or sample mail pack to Whistl and Royal Mail.

The AdMail Service

adMail is a six-day delivery service performed Monday to Saturday. Royal Mail aims to deliver mailing items on the first working day after handover to Royal Mail and its acceptance.

The items must meet the criteria to qualify as adMail, including:

  • Have a consistent message aimed at promoting services or products or supporting a cause
  • Presented in trays or bags (if requirements for unbagged posting are met)
  • Exclusively contain adMail items if presented in trays or bags

adMail seed mailing items:

The customer must provide accurate samples for every mailing, which Royal Mail will use for auditing unless the customer has opted out.

  • For adMail postings, the customer must provide Whistl with one or more sample mailing packs to verify that the content meets the adMail specifications.
  • Royal Mail will use these samples for reference during audits and other specified purposes.
  • The samples must be exact copies of the mailed items, including the relevant Unique Customer ID and Mail Reference.

Why is the adMail service only for direct mail?

Whistl is attempting to support the advertising medium through the mail. By reducing direct mail prices, we demonstrate our commitment to delivering value for money and helping the existing direct mail market. 

adMail doesn’t apply to transactional mailings like statements and invoices. 

Can transactional content be included in an adMail mailing?

No, adMail cannot include transactional content. The adMail service is for “pure” direct mail and would not apply, for example, to a bank statement that includes an element of advertising mail.
